Business Development Is Not What It Once Was

“What’s in and here today” is what I want to know. To understand what’s going on today, we must take a step back into how business development has always worked.

A good business starts with a good product and good service. The entrepreneur is offering something of value to the customer, who is glad to part ways with his money over and over. This process proceeds to enrich the entrepreneur with very minimal impact on the lives of the ones who are enriching him.

Ideally, we’d have a thousand little copies of us, running around town telling everybody around town about our newest invention. The problem is, people don’t always listen, especially to a group of lunatics. People are not in the streets, people are not just listening for people’s suggestions, people are all doing something we are very familiar with. People are on the phones.

People are also on different apps. Maybe 25% of their day is spent scrolling through Instagram, 10% of their day is spent checking their e-mails. While your customer is on channels that you can be on at the same time, you can present them your enticing offer.

Business development today is about getting your message in front of the right people’s eye balls. Some people have not wrapped their head around the fact that people’s eye balls are all glued to the same thing: their screens. Our message is dying to get out and in front of your customers.
Your customers are dying to meet you. Don’t keep them waiting.
